About Halloween (1978)
John Carpenter's Halloween was made for about $300,000 and became one of the most impactful films of all time. Michael Myers, only credited as "The Shape," became a horror and cultural icon. Carpenter himself even composed the film's score — in an impressive matter of days. Halloween launched both the modern slasher genre and the career of Jamie Lee Curtis, who made her film debut as Laurie Strode, the film's lead.
